There are not favorites when it comes to alcoholism.
In the United States a little over 17 million people abuse alcohol, about 1 in every 12 adult's abuse alcohol or are alcohol dependent. Alcohol abuse and alcoholism cut across gender, race, and nationality. Alcohol abuse and alcoholism has no preference on who it will affect, no one is exempt from the possibility of becoming addicted to alcohol. Alcohol problems are highest among young adults ages 18-29 and lowest among adults ages 65 and older, but that does not mean that you're safe if you do not fit into one of those categories. Don't use this data as a green light to drink as much as you want when ever you want. People who start drinking at an early age 14 or younger are at much higher risk of developing alcohol problems at some point in their lives compared to someone who starts drinking at 21 or later. If you know or have a young adult in your life who is drinking too much and is having difficulties stopping be willing to help them find a drug rehab were they can go and get treatment for their alcohol addiction before it becomes a life long problem.
